Our Story
In 2017, founders Tony and Emerson took their very first trip as a couple to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. While they were there, they passed by a VW camper outfitted as a mobile coffee shop. They didn't pay too much attention to it at the time, but it planted the seed to what would become Farm Cup Coffee.
Feeling adventurous and inspired after their travel, they returned with a plan to escape their mundane 9-5 jobs. Emerson got to work with a business plan and reached out directly to small farms around the world, starting with Mexico. Tony took the ideas they sketched out together on a cafe napkin and transformed them into a brand. A few months later, they visited their first coffee farm.
After selling their coffee beans online and at outdoor markets for a year, they started the process of importing a 1964 Citroen HY Van from the UK. More research, stress, and a year and a half later, Sunny, LA's brightest vintage coffee van had arrived. Tony and Emerson were overjoyed, as this was truly a dream come true. However, not even 9 months later, the world had come to a halt with the COVID-19 pandemic. With the constant break-downs of the van followed by the closures of public events, they made the decision to make Sunny stationary and to expand their operations to a brick & mortar location.
