Natural Anaerobic / Limited Crop / Direct Trade
In 1930, Mr. Alvaro Serna Botero started a small company to produce and trade coffee in the north of Caldas. It's a region placed in the middle of the Andes with wonderful landscapes currently declared by UNESCO as a world heritage “Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia." In a lovely town called Salamina, there was a farm called “La Linda” (The Beauty) in the slope of a hill of coffee contained by several native trees that protected the soil and preserved the fauna and flora. Their goal was to transport people to these lovely landscapes with every sip of coffee.
After several years of growing great coffees in Salamina, they decided to cross borders and begin to build their dream of having everyone worldwide experience their amazing flavors. Coffee for them is not just a crop, it is their culture and the opportunity to work to improve social conditions and preserve the biodiversity of a unique place.
In 1999 the second generation of the family decided to plant a native forest to conserve the area and some trees in red risk list. The idea was to protect the land to create magnificent coffee. Today the third generation is growing some of the best coffee in Colombia with a focus on being environmentally conscious.
This limited crop coffee comes from a nano-lot within this coffee community from the Medina Lopez family. Their crops being grown near blackberries paired with their natural anaerobic fermentation process, these beans make for a uniquely fruity cup of coffee.
